Role:
Senior Product Designer

Primary Objective:
Design and launch a new wallet extension product and redesign the existing mobile wallet to be comparable with Rainbow and Metamask wallet.

Methods:
Prototyping , UX research, Usability testing, Visual design

The Problem

The one single benefit of crypto is that using it isn’t dependent on a central institution. Because crypto exchanges would often get hacked in the early days, there existed a large demographic of people who preferred to manage their own crypto. However, storing and managing digital assets was quite technical and difficult to understand and use.

Looking at the big picture

The objective was to create a simple and easy to use application for buying, storing, spending, and managing your cryptocurrency assets without an account. All while keeping the highest regard for security and privacy. The value propositions for the user were just as valuable for the BitPay the business which also provided merchants the ability to accept crypto as a payment. This required really good onboarding end intuitive features that could educate users.

Research

Most of of the UX research consisted of competitive analysis, user testing and in-app surveys. We studied the positive and negative experiences of similar financial and non-financial apps. Through user-testing and surveys we listened for the user’s preferences, suggestions and feelings. We were careful not to react too quickly to their request, but we listen to empathize with their concerns. In the end the goal was to constantly add value such that they remain comfortable using BitPay wallet.
